The Mackie Hall Alumni Association (MHAA) is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a clear and urgent mission: to proactively end veteran homelessness and provide lasting support to Gold Star families across the United States.
We believe veteran homelessness is a solvable problem — and that solving it requires action before the crisis hits. Too many veterans exit service without the financial safety net, housing stability, or community support they need to land on their feet. Too many Gold Star families — the surviving spouses, children, and dependents of fallen service members — quietly face financial hardship years after their loss, with little institutional support. MHAA was built to change that.
Our approach is proactive, not reactive. We raise funds through community events and donor partnerships, then deploy those resources as direct financial assistance to veterans at risk of housing instability and to Gold Star families in need. We pair financial support with educational programming — helping veterans and families understand and access the full range of federal, state, and community resources available to them. Knowledge is prevention. A veteran who understands their benefits and knows where to turn is far less likely to end up without a home.
We are guided by the belief that service to this country must be met with service in return — not just in words, but in action. MHAA’s Board of Directors ensures that every dollar raised is handled with accountability and directed toward maximum impact. Donations to MHAA are fully tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
